Most of the 8 x 10s shown are from late 2006. They departed from my previous work, which was larger and purely abstract. Doing these small pieces continued into 2007 but that muse left me so I went on a search for a new muse. I spent several months experimenting with sculpture. Interestingly enough, the experiments in sculpture rekindled my painting. All the larger pieces were done in December 2007.
Several exhibits in 2007 influenced me: "Optic Nerve" in Columbus OH, contemporary work at the AMAM Oberlin Oh, and Julian Stanczak at the Cincinnati CAC. OP Art! See "Distraction" below. I intend to do more oppy art in 2008, but I never really know.
